guide name: Lilly DiepFirst and Last Visit – Disappointing Experience at COSMO Romford I visited COSMO Romford for the first time to celebrate a friend’s birthday—and it will definitely be my last. We had a 6:00 PM booking and arrived 10 minutes early. The man at the front (who turned out to be the manager) told us that if we went in and sat down, our 90-minute dining time would start immediately, even though the rest of our party hadn’t arrived yet. Fair enough—we chose to wait. He said he’d hold the table for 10 minutes. When the rest of our group showed up, he repeated the same “rules” in a very robotic, army-camp tone: you pay, then your 90 minutes begin. No warmth, no flexibility—just rules barked at us. On top of that, we were met with dismissive expressions from staff, including the manager. It felt like we were being rushed through a conveyor belt, not celebrating a birthday. After paying and hurrying to the food counters, we were warned at 7:10 PM that our time was nearly up. We were in the middle of secretly trying to bring out a birthday cake for a surprise, and staff interrupted us again at 7:22 PM—this time practically pushing us to leave. When we tried to explain the situation, the staff member ruined the surprise by pressing for answers instead of simply communicating with his colleagues. Another issue: check your receipt. We sat and paid at 6:17 PM, which should’ve given us until about 7:45 PM. But my receipt said 6:01 PM—meaning they shaved 15 minutes off our time. Feels like a scam. As for the food: The grill and Asian selections were good The carvery meats looked dry and unappetising Some sides like potatoes were undercooked Desserts were the highlight Overall, food was okay, but the service and experience? Completely ruined the evening. For a restaurant that wasn’t even that busy, the lack of hospitality was shocking. I wouldn’t recommend COSMO Romford—especially for a special occasion as you won't have a nice catch up with people.

Should wait till you leave the table. I dinned with 4 others and we each paid our own however when working out the bill we were being over charged by £10.00. We queried this and eventually was looked at by a second member of staff. I had a special chow mein, egg fried rice and beef with mushroom. 1 beer. My grandson had special curry with rice and tap water. £65.00. Total bill. The food tasted very bland. All white table cloths, no music no ambience. Over rated restaurant and over priced. I'll stick to my local take away.

guide name: Ayten SelcukWe went to their Diwali dinner party last week and had a gala time. The welcome drinks, canapés, starters, mains and the dessert were all delicious and plentiful. I especially liked the palak chaat starter and the lamb curry. The music was good too, with people dancing to many Indian filmi songs that I recognised. It was our second visit within two weeks and I'm so glad we discovered this family-run restaurant serving authentic North Indian dishes. I highly recommend it!

Premier Inn Romford Central (Mercury Gardens) hotel
guide name: Trudi Bradley23 of us stayed last night for my son’s birthday. Was very nervous about this hotel having read the previous reviews but it was fine, some of us were in the building away from the main hotel and that was ok. The main building had lots of refurb going on but the people from our party that stayed there had no issues either. Clean, quiet and no smells detected. Internet was down on our arrival so couldn’t check in but the staff managed to do it on their phones as we were wet and cold from doing it’s a knockout and could see we really needed to change and shower.
