Big Squid

guide name: Jodie Tapscott

I only had 8 open water tropical dives under my belt when Big Squid taught me to cold water Dry Suit dive in Portland! John, Kevin, Maria and the crew were great instructors. Taught me well in tough conditions and 6 mths later I was out diving with them and the seals 🦭 at Lundy Island. Great teachers and lovely welcoming dive club!

The owner of the shop was being very pushy and kept on coming close to me and my friend despite being a minor. He was overly complementing us and called my friend ugly due to her acne. I would never come back to this place and advise others not to as well.

I recently completed my Functional Skills Maths and English Level 2 at City College Stratford and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. The support I received throughout the course was outstanding. The teachers were incredibly patient, encouraging, and always willing to help whenever I had questions or needed extra guidance. Achieving this qualification was a hard dream for me, and I never thought I could do it — but thanks to the amazing support from the school, I did it! The lessons were well-structured, and I felt fully prepared for my exams. I’m so grateful for the support and dedication of the staff — they truly care about their students’ success. I would highly recommend City College Stratford to anyone looking to improve their skills in a positive and supportive environment. Thank you for helping me achieve this important milestone!

Brockwell Park

With a few hours to use up while visiting Brixton I decided to venture here with my child as I heard of the miniature train ride. We didn’t find it this visit so will be back but we didn’t find the paddling pool and the playgroup which was enjoyable. It was a very hot day so be warned as the slides can be very very hot. Splashes were had at the park and we took a walk through the walled garden and also spotted the pond too. Plenty of shaded space to enjoy a picnic or just chill and it’s a great outdoor space for being in nature.

Went there for lunch. Had a delicious meal at Salpike. Very basic but the food was delicious and the soft drinks were free. Will go back for more. Maybe try out the starters. I had the pork belly, rice and peas with coleslaw and mango chutney

Wonderful place to visit. Great restaurants, a nice mixture of cuisine and several meat, fish and fresh veg stores. Closes a little early during the week. The toilets require a credit card to access which is great for keeping them safe.

Had SUCH a good time here. Dropped in for an R&B night. The DJ was great, the drinks were reasonably priced. I didn’t have food but the options smelled amazing and I will definitely be trying some when I come back. This was a great venue to meet locals when visiting town.

What a delicious birthday meal. We went there to mark another year on this planet, and I wanted to try this Japanese restaurant. It did not disappoint. The waitress, Beatrice, was absolutely excellent, professional, attentive and her colleague who also came to our table was very good too. My partner mentioned in passing that it was my birthday and they obviously made note of it and brought me a little sweet iced treat a the end. Fantastic. The food was perfect. Delicious, well cooked, very well presented and appropriately sized and priced. The 🍹 cocktails were scrumptious too. We’ll be back. Thank you Beatrice for making our little outing for a meal so special.

Myatt's Fields Park

What a lovely stroll in a local park not far from where we live. The park has many walk paths, greenery and views. There are several little garden sections which is also great. Tennis, basketball and football courts can also be rented out, there’s a beautiful hut at the centre of the park which is also great to take some photos or relax in there too! I recommend this park to anyone in the area who lives a stone throw away to visit here. I’m sure we will be back again as this is now our local gem or a park.

Such a wonderful place. Everyone is so friendly (Lella is amazing), and the food is GORGEOUS. Particularly liked the freshness of the ingredients on the sourdough bases. We had a tomato base pizza, and a white base pizza: both really flavourful. Thanks FM Brixton!

We come for the food and return for the service! Probably my favourite restaurant in London. Particularly for the reason dogs are allowed and the food is just super high quality and taste for the pricing. We love Carla, she gave us 11/10 service, as does the whole team. Red sangria and the vegetarian Francesinha are the best

Great little pub, with a lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Good vegan options available, and non-alcoholic beer on tap, made this a great lunch option. I loved the tomato soup and broccoli. The plant-based burger was tasty as well. The garden was the perfect spot to sit and enjoy the day away from the hustle and bustle of Brixton.

Nice place by the station, with a some good stalls. It's a little pricey, but you're paying for quality products although I'm still a Lidl bakery fan 😁

It's always a positive experience when visiting nandos generally. Service is fast, the food tastes fresh and custom to your spice level and they still have their classics. I had a loaded fries with shredded chicken with sauces and freshly sliced onions with grilled chicken with lemon and herb seasoning. It was my first time trying the loaded fries and it was awesome. I was really impressed and couldn't finish it all.

Brilliant meal for Father's Day treat. Ginger martini was amazing as always and we tried three new dishes all of which had good portions and tasted great. Tried many other places but keep coming back here as consistently good. Lovely staff too.
