Staffordshire University London - Digital Institute
guide name: Cress StevensI may have a rose-tinted lense for this university because of how incredibly kind and fun to be around all of the staff and fellow students were and how much of a good time I had. It was such a significant time in my life of change and finding myself, I developed as a concept artist so much and made so many friends in the process that it's hard to give an honest and grounded review. I am aware despite this that there were a lot of grievances with upper management, and we had many issues in the course itself, with the most wonderful teachers struggling because a campus halfway across the country almost seemed to treat us as a lesser afterthought, sending us slides and projects that were unbalanced and left us a bit in the dust, especially in terms of the cross-campus collaborative projects, wherein the mammoth size of the student body was on the Stoke campus, leaving the London students (who were supposed to be equals at every part in the process) more or less discarded, not even able to show up to our own pitches in some cases, and hardly being listened to in others. Despite this, it is a small, personal, very friendly university which I found gave greater opportunity for bonding and more direct critique and help with work. I'd go so far as to say they were the best three years of my life so far. I miss you all so much, I hope you're doing well.

The Spread Eagle
guide name: Jack PorteousWent for a Sunday roast and it was spectacular. Beet Wellington was umami and a perfect centrepiece, the roasties were crispy, the veg were cooked perfectly, and the gravy was plentiful. Shared a side of cheesy leek gratin which was unctuous and I would heartily recommend. Also shared a bottle of red wine Staff are all happy, friendly and helpful. Amazing vegan pub.

Pivaz
guide name: Alan DelmonteSuperb food in a lovely restaurant. Baba ghanoush outstanding for starter, then a chicken sarma and a sutlach (rice pudding) dessert. Thanks to Baris and the team for an exceptional meal.

Black Cat café
guide name: Alexey PechorinGreat and pleasant service, pleasant atmosphere, the food is great and portion size is large! The preparation takes a bit of time, so take it into account. I took the cat breakfast as I was pretty hungry, but in retrospect the kitten breakfast would've been better for me, finished pretty stuffed! Would definitely recommend and come back here :)

Millfields Park
guide name: Etienne P.Millfields Park is a rather large green area in East London with public toilets (which is rather rare!), quite a few sport and playground areas and as you’d expect the few benches and trees as most park should have really!

LARDO
guide name: Loris BRICARDIt’s a really nice wine bar and restaurant, with a very cosy atmosphere. The pizzas were quite good for value and it’s a lovely place to relax and enjoy good food. As a French person, I found the wine good, though the lower-priced options on the menu were quite expensive for what they were and not necessarily the best, but of course, that probably doesn’t reflect the whole wine list. I’ve only been there once, but it’s definitely a great spot to enjoy a warm, welcoming ambiance and a tasty meal.

guide name: A SJust went here last minute after our midwife appointment at Homerton hospital. We went for the top reviews and how close walk it was from the hospital. It was during the lunchtime and was empty. We really enjoyed the food and the service. We would love to come back and see during the evening for the atmosphere and try their cocktails.

The Empress
guide name: Fiona StantonThe Empress is hands down one of my favourite pubs… it’s the perfect mix of relaxed, welcoming, and full of character. I love that it’s dog friendly, my dog absolutely loves coming here and always gets so much attention from the lovely staff and regulars. The food is incredible every single time. I always go for the steak, it’s cooked to perfection, full of flavour, and easily one of the best around. And I can never resist one of their Bloody Marys! They make them just right, perfectly balanced and packed with flavour. The atmosphere is always spot on, whether it’s a lazy afternoon or a busy evening. It feels like a proper local gem, friendly faces, great service, and a lovely buzz.

The Hemingway
guide name: Edyta KozlowskaThe veggie roast was not great - first of all, the main was a quarter of a roasted squash with a tablespoon of chickpea stuffing. While I love a good roasted vegetable, I wouldn’t call that a main component of a dish but rather a side, especially in a roast. However, the main issue were "all the trimmings” as stated on the menu - partially cooked broccoli (very tough), three pieces of roasted potatoes, 1 roasted carrot, a chunk of beetroot and unseasoned boiled greens are not the decadent trimmings you would expect from a hearty roast. The Yorkshire pudding was also very dry. The roast could use some tastier sides such as cauliflower cheese, or some seasoned greens such as a creamed leek, maybe even braised cabbage! Overall, quite disappointing and not very filling!
