Ambitious Lengths

guide name: emma edwards

I recently had some keratin bonds fitted with Manuela at Ambitious Lengths and to say that I am happy is an understatement. After experiencing some hair thinning due to a medical condition, I feel like I have been given a new lease of life with my hair, which has given me confidence within myself. Manuela is so experienced at what she’s does, her attention to detail is incredible and the extensions were colour matched to perfection. Manuela really took her time and has completely transformed my blunt bob into a flowing head of hair which looks so natural and I love it! The information for the aftercare was great too, which has meant I can look after my extensions properly and keep them looking fresh. Thank you so much, highly recommend 💕

Islington Tennis Centre and Gym

guide name: Benji

This was my first time attending a Pay & Play Tennis social session, and while the concept was enjoyable, the experience shifted when some players began playing overly aggressively — aiming body shots and hitting the ball with excessive force, which could potentially lead to injuries. I believe it would be much safer and more enjoyable to have supervised, separate sessions for beginner/intermediate and advanced players to help avoid overly competitive or ego-driven behaviour. That said, the reception team was wonderful and very understanding.

London Metropolitan University

The Culture of Deviance in Academia: My First-Hand Experience at LMU - A Deeply Disappointing Experience at LMU: Inconsistency, Bias, and Lack of Accountability ⭐☆☆☆☆ Deeply Disappointed by Inconsistency, Unprofessionalism, and Lack of Fairness. I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at London Metropolitan University (LMU). What should have been a straightforward academic process turned into one of the most discouraging experiences I’ve had as a student. My assignment was marked late even though it was submitted just 17 seconds past the deadline. Across the faculty, submission grace times are inconsistent — some lecturers allow a 5-minute window, others up to 15 minutes, while in my case, there was no tolerance at all. Such inconsistency undermines fairness, equality, and student confidence. A student should not be penalised for seconds when others are given several minutes. When I contacted the Student Zone, their response was dismissive: “If your tutor decides that they will not accept the work, they do not need to.” This kind of reply shows a serious lack of accountability and compassion. Policies should be applied uniformly across all modules and lecturers to ensure equal treatment for all students. I also shared constructive feedback with my lecturer, on 10 June 2025. I was polite and professional in my message, but after that, I noticed a clear change in attitude during the final two classes, raising concerns that my feedback may have influenced her treatment of my work. Attendance in this module had dropped drastically — sometimes down to only four students — with many commenting that “she just reads off the slides.” This points to deeper issues in teaching engagement and student motivation. What made matters worse was that my follow-up email about the submission issue received no response or acknowledgment, which I found unprofessional and dismissive. I only received communication after escalating the matter to another staff member, Davinder, which should not have been necessary. While I understand that this particular grade does not count towards my final classification, it still appears on my transcript. Therefore, I expect fair and accurate feedback that reflects my academic work — not personal bias or retaliation for providing honest feedback. This experience has left me feeling disturbed, uncomfortable, and unsafe about raising any future concerns. I’ve even considered transferring to another university, but the process is overwhelming and would disrupt my studies. I am genuinely grateful to lecturer that accepted me for the opportunities I’ve had here, but students deserve an environment where they feel safe and supported to express their perspectives and feedback constructively. Given these experiences, I should do my resubmission on “The Culture of Deviance in Academia: An Examination of Power, Ethics, and Institutional Responsibility,” using LMU as a case study. It feels only right to turn this lived experience into academic reflection because what I’ve witnessed raises serious questions about ethics, fairness, and accountability within the institution itself. My advice to new students considering LMU: after reading my experience above, ask yourself whether this university truly aligns with what you expect from a supportive and fair academic environment. I strongly recommend that both home and international students explore other universities before making a final decision. I say this as a home student who genuinely wanted to succeed here but was left deeply disappointed by the lack of consistency, professionalism, and accountability.

We arrived for a family taster session with my 10 years old son. ❤️ With another 2 families we were welcomed at the café, where you can buy lots of yummy stuff if you need a power boost and you can shop for climbing shoes, chalk, etc. At the main building we were again welcomed by a lovely member of staff. 😊 In a designate area we waited for our instructor who turned out to be Ben. He was super calm, very friendly and helpful all the way. Within that 90 minutes we were able to try bouldering, climbing with ropes and see and feel how the autobelay works. The place itself is absolutely massive, loads of fun with plenty of options to climb for every level. We had a great time, thank you! 😁👍🏻

Pizzeria Pappagone

We had a nice Sunday late lunch last week. Restaurant was very busy. Service was efficient and polite. Food was presented very nicely. I had salmon pasta and my partner had a steak. We got confused we were sure steak comes with fries but it wasn’t so we ordered it separately. My pistachio gelato had a bit strange taste and unfortunately I didn’t like it much, the tiramisu portion was very generous. Place isn’t the cheapest but not very expensive too. We spent 62£ for two mains, two desserts and one beer. We were sitting outside as it was a great weather. Not sure if we will be back, if we will we definitely gonna order pizza as I think this place is more famous for pizza.

Much loved and actively used, this relatively small but beautiful park seems to have something for everyone, from tennis courts, cafe, multi-purpose courts, children's adventure play area, fitness centre and more. It is actively used by joggers, or a place to relax on the benches or the grass. Many aspiring footballers have dribbled on these blades of grass.

Absolutely amazing! My daughter asked to go here for her birthday - we are cat owners and love what Whispers & Cream stand for. The staff where so accommodating and after a telephone call there was space for me, my daughter and her 3 siblings. We arrived so excited and left feeling so incredibly happy. The cats are so well looked after, and very loved, this is shown in their temperament. The food and drinks where delicious too. Thank you so much for accommodating us, and making my daughters birthday one to remember. We will be back very soon♡
