This is an excellent gym. It has a full range of equipment and because it's not too crowded I never have any problem getting on to a machine or using the weights I need. I use a PT there (Gleicio) who is superb; highly professional, knowledgeable, motivational but also friendly. I'm so much stronger now, and he's transformed the way I train. I'd recommend him to anybody who is serious about their fitness and strength.

Expensive for what it is. I joined at around £30 pm and now, 6 ish months later, it’s £43.99! For £43.99 you get an over crowded gym, 3 cable machine to share, no floor space for smaller weights, stinky changing rooms, dirty equipment & training floor with minimal antibacterial spray and tissue paper available to wipe down equipment, horribly loud music and no air conditioning. The swimming pool seems to always be closed and I’ve never seen the cafe open which is annoying when you forget your water bottle and no paper cups are provided for the water fountain. Staff have been friendly however one time my direct debit bounced and they asked me to pay the £30 joining fee again! - i received no emails letting me know prior this was an issue.

Spent the afternoon playing tennis at Burgess Park, and it was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made this week. The courts are set against a backdrop of open greenery, and with the sun out, the whole space had a really clean, refreshing vibe. The blue surface of the court contrasts beautifully with the surrounding park — it almost feels like you’re playing in a postcard. After a good match, I walked over to a nearby coffee shop just off the park. It’s a small, quiet spot with outdoor seating, perfect for cooling down. I grabbed an iced latte and sat back, watching the late afternoon settle in. Between the match, the scenery, and the coffee, it was the perfect mix of activity and downtime. It’s wheelchair friendly!

Peckham Rye Park is a fantastic green space that offers something for everyone. It’s a vibrant and diverse park, perfect for families, fitness enthusiasts, or anyone looking to relax and unwind. The park is beautifully maintained, with expansive open fields ideal for picnics, games, or simply soaking up the sun. The gardens, including the Japanese Garden and the ornamental flower beds, are absolutely stunning and provide peaceful spots for a leisurely stroll. There’s also a serene lake that adds to the park’s charm. For those into fitness, the park has well-paved paths perfect for running or walking, and plenty of space for outdoor workouts. Families will love the well-equipped children’s play area, and there’s even a cafe nearby for a coffee break or a light snack. Peckham Rye Park is also a haven for wildlife, with plenty of birds and beautiful natural features that make it feel like a little slice of countryside in the middle of the city. It’s a versatile space that caters to relaxation, recreation, and social gatherings. Overall, it’s a must-visit spot in South London, and one of my personal favorites for spending time outdoors. Highly recommended!

Lovely views at sunset from this park - popular spot at this time for this reason. Some good facilities here too: a tennis court. This park is named after the telegraph post that was here in the past. It was used as part of an early warning system during ww2. You can read more details on this on a sign in the park. Nice place for a stroll anytime of day, lots of local dogs get walked here.

We were big fans of this place in its rustic former incarnation, so worried about the refurbishment, but fears were unfounded. It’s been done really tastefully and the food is better than we remembered it. Somehow the prices don’t seem to have been bumped up for the renovation either. The pork with black fungus, as well as the aubergine were particularly memorable.

Phenomenal place for a Sunday lunch. The food quality is top notch. The scotch bonnet pork fat was incredible, and the steak and bone marrow pie was excellent, can easily feed 3 which is very good value for London these days. Also, can't not mention the roasties - probably the best roast potato I've ever had!

The food was amazing as was the hospitality of the super friendly owner herself, the talented chefs and Johann our server. He is an artist in the way he delivers the menu choices. We had decision paralysis as everything sounded so good. He asked what we liked, if we had any allergies and recommended dishes accordingly. Haven't seen anyone enjoy what they do in such a long while and also do it well!! He could sell water to a fish! Would recommend.

Love Walk Cafe 81 Denmark Hill Camberwell London SE5 8RS TEL. NO. 020 7703 9898 WEBSITE. MENU – Love Walk Cafe https://share.google/DHHGEjPHabJUdZbfpĺ The coffees are of good quality. The décor and setting are stylised, quirky and comfortable. A wide menu with plenty of choices: breakfasts (Full English, American style pancakes), vegetarian/vegan options, fresh juices. Located in a nice spot in Camberwell, so good for a relaxed brunch or coffee meet-up. Outdoor seating and relaxed atmosphere: useful for groups or catching up. Pricing may be a bit higher than some nearby cafés. If I were recommending it: Go for a brunch or coffee meet-up with friends. The big breakfasts, pancakes and juice menu are strong. If you value photography / atmosphere, this place scores well (quirky décor + good light + outdoor). Try going a little earlier (say around 9-10 am) to avoid peak crowding and to get good seats outdoors (weather permitting). If you're after vegetarian/vegan options, it’s a good bet here. Ideal for a relaxed catch-up, working on a laptop or reading — but perhaps not the fastest service place if you’re in a rush.

    The Victoria Inn

    guide name: London Pub Map

🚇 Peckham Rye 🍺 £7.00 Estrella Galicia The Victoria Inn sits on the corner of Choumert Road and Bellenden Road in Peckham. Built in 1878, it was for many years a no-frills locals’ pub. As Peckham changed, the pub underwent a major refurbishment in 2016, adding fifteen boutique bedrooms upstairs. In 2001, the exterior appeared in the film Last Orders starring Michael Caine, Helen Mirren, Bob Hoskins and Ray Winstone. This is a large two-room gastro pub with original Victorian features alongside contemporary touches. The L-shaped bar has a dark wood front and matching bar back centred around a decorative clock. The bar area to the left has exposed floorboards, high tongue-and-groove panelling, painted walls and modern glazed tiling near the kitchen hatch. The right-hand room is set aside for dining and has a more contemporary feel with exposed brick, yellow walls and plenty of traditional and banquette seating. Decorative features include period fireplaces, Corinthian columns and a small ode to Trotters Independent Traders. There is also outdoor seating under awnings. The beer selection is strong, with premium lagers, independent craft options and one cask ale. I had an Estrella Galicia—well kept, though priced high for the area. The food menu is pub classics; fish and chips is £18, and roasts are available on Sundays. I arrived at 2pm on a warm and overcast Saturday in August. The main bar was busy with a group celebrating and a couple having a quiet drink, there were also a few punters outside. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and service was friendly and attentive. Peckham has transformed significantly over the past twenty years. Many pubs closed, while others adapted to survive. The Victoria Inn is one that has moved with the times and now attracts a broad crowd. An elegant Victorian pub and a pleasant place to spend time. Well worth visiting if you’re in the area. Great restaurant serving traditional West African food in a sleek and modern environment. We went on a Saturday evening and - although very busy - managed to get a table for two without reservation. Staff was friendly and explained the dishes to us. The grilled fish was excellent- but order only if you are OK with bones. The Asaro was very special, spiced and hearty. Would recommend!

I went to The Palmerston and ordered the fish and chips. Honestly, the fish didn’t have much flavor it kind of just tasted like whatever you paired it with, whether it was tartar sauce or a bit of lemon. The food isn’t bad, but it didn’t really impress me either. The service was great, though, and the place has a cozy vibe. I’m giving it 3 stars because food matters, and while it wasn’t bad, it didn’t wow me. The best part of the night was definitely the prawns those were on point.
