The building is really mislabeled. There’s one room with Art which may have 20 canvases. One of them is quite a nice place but otherwise if you’re coming for Art, you’re not going to find anything that you want. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a museum with a great coverage of the history of Birmingham, the top floor of the building has a very excellent series of exhibits on this topic. That’s not why I came here, but I did enjoy it quite a lot. If you have kids, there’s a dinosaur exhibit on the lower floor. I think it’s 9 pounds for adults and free for kids. Otherwise, the museum is free. There’s a nice coffee shop.

Really great day out for all the family. Can get good discounts if you know where to look which makes it much more affordable. Loads to do. The outside water play part it especially brilliant for your kids. Planetarium comes at an extra cost but was good.

Fantastic pub. Once you get past the grand aesthetic of both the exterior and interior, you get to a superb selection of beers and ales. I opted for a pint of Lavender Hill Pale Ale, followed by a half of Rebel IPA. I was only visiting for a quick drink before heading to my lunch reservation elsewhere, but I want to come back and try out all of the different offerings. I may have to do it in half-pints! Service is friendly and welcoming, if you get a seat by the large front windows in day time, there's a lovely view of the cathedral and it's grounds to take in.

A small but well formed cathedral. Very helpful staff, beautiful colourful windows, a quiet peaceful place to sit and be. Gardens to enjoy outside for a picnic and watch the world go by in this very busy vibrant city.

I never leave reviews on places but i had to for here! This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in, the staff are absolutely lovely & so are the rooms. Amazing priced rooms & location is amazing. Thank you to all the staff during our stay! Food was also lovely & cleaners tidied our rooms whilst we went out during the day. Amazing hotel.

Went here for my birthday lunch. Food was outstanding! Our server Kully was amazing! By far the best customer service I’ve received across the board! We will 100% be back!! Even got a brownie with a candle, best introduction to birthday shenanigans! Thank you Kully

The Birmingham Back to Back houses are quite a fascinating place to visit. It is a National Trust site, so is free to members, although booking in advance is a must! Built in 1801 the guide will talk you through all of their history, from time of first occupation, up to the 1970s. The tour takes round about one and a half hours. There are many steep and narrow staircases, so not recommended for anyone who are not too steady on their feet. I was amazed at how people lived back then. So tough, and very hard work on a day to day basis. Incredible when you compare it to todays luxuries we all take for granted. Wasn't all bad though. The community spirit was strong, and something I would certainly savour now. I highly recommend this visit. Our guide John was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and happy to answer any amount of questions. I loved it!

Really enjoyed my visit here – the beer was excellent, the décor had a charming touch, and it was buzzing with plenty of locals. It’s clearly a popular spot, especially for breakfast and brunch, with a lively yet relaxed atmosphere. A proper place to sit back, enjoy a pint, and soak up the local vibe.

Always loved the old crown. Been here several times with friends, colleagues and family. Vibe is always chilled, laid back and friendly. Beers nice, crisp and a good variety. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever until one time I ordered the 1368 sharer platter for 4. On the website, it says: A feast for 4 people- chicken wings, Torpedo Prawns, Lamb Fritters, Hummus, Grilled Pitta, Truffle Fries What was promised as a feast felt more like an assault on my arteries, with nearly every item deep fried. The chicken wings had the texture of sawdust, and the 'prawns' were mysteriously replaced by whitebait that carried a distinctly potent, fishy aroma. The only redeeming features—the pitta and fries—hardly justify the £30 price tag. Save your money and visit the chippy next door; your taste buds and wallet will thank you It’s great If you’re here for drinks, and maybe Sunday roast. Definitely give the platter a miss.

First impressions of the hotel were impressive, its large and centrally located, making it ideal for exploring the area. The reception staff were genuinely lovely, greeting me warmly and handling my mobility-related room request with care. I needed to be near the lift, and they made sure that was accommodated without fuss, which I really appreciated. The room itself was spacious, clean, and well-equipped. A large TV, ironing board and iron, and even a chaise lounge added a touch of comfort and practicality. Breakfast was simple and satisfying, no unnecessary frills, just good basics done well. However, there were a few drawbacks. The hotel is currently surrounded by roadworks and construction, which unfortunately detracts from the overall atmosphere and view. More concerning was the room temperature. It was extremely cold, and the heating is centrally controlled by the front desk. This meant I had to call down to adjust it, but couldn’t turn it back down myself once it got too warm. This lack of control was frustrating, especially at night. Speaking of nights, there was a persistent buzzing noise that made it very difficult to sleep, something I hope the hotel investigates and resolves. The rainfall shower head was also very old and had loads of limescale on it, so I never used it and instead used a smaller handheld shower, which was awkward but did the job. Overall, a comfortable and accommodating stay with standout staff, but a few environmental and technical issues that impacted rest and relaxation. I would still recommend staying here and ill definitely be back soon.
